About Us

About Our League
Who We Are?
In 1953 The Amherst Jaycees in conjunction with Mr. Carl Magnuson formed the Amherst Athletic Association. Mr Magnuson was elected the first President. The first Executive Board consisted of 4 elected officers and 10 appointed members. The Initial A.A.A. started that same year, 1953, with 8 teams and a total of 120 boys. One age group was boys 8-12 and the other was boys 13-15 years in age. The following year, in 1954, the league expanded to 180 boys. As the popularity and success of the program continued, girls softball and the Rainbow League were added, the "older" boys leagues were expanded and in 1986 Tee Ball was added. The largest participation year was in 1995 with 1193 boys and girls particpating.
It’s an experience that connects generations. With every season, we continue to grow stronger, inspire new talent, and create lasting memories for our community.
Thank you to all of the past and present volunteers over the last 70+ years!
